Q&A around the forums:

Just thought I'd point out a couple of these posts to tide you over, as I won't be able to post for a while.

Question about Runic Power Mastery answered.

Question about Chillblains answered.

Finally, for those of you who might have some trouble with rogues, just remember this tip:

Plague strike will reapply blood plague even if a rogue has cloak of shadows up. As soon as you see a rogue cloak, try and land a new plague strike on them asap.

Plague strike, like serpent sting (which can be used by hunters to accomplish the same thing), doesn't roll a spell-based hit check, and thus isn't affected by the 90% resist rate. As long as you don't get parried/dodged, and the strike lands, the dot will be reapplied, preventing them from utilizing a lengthy vanish.

Post here.

Hey Jayde,

Rime here from Blackrock (we spoke briefly the other day in EotS). Just dropping by to say 'hello' and thanks for all your analysis of the DK class thus far.

Drop me a line sometime on AIM - RimeDK.

Cheers!

Out of curiosity, i have been following you for quite some time, (Ok, a looooong time) And i never seen you post a "Starting raid gear" For DK's (Including loot from badges, heroics, rep)

And i was a bit curious on what you think?

I would love to see a post from you on this topic, and hope that i will.

I check your blog everyday Jayde and I have to say your posts have helped me immensely.

What's your stand on DK tanking? Although my main spec is DPS my tanking gear is fairly good.(22k HP, 540 defense, 29.5% Parry, 21% dodge and 61.5% damage reduction)

Yet healers still tell me I take huge spikes, do we really have to blow cooldowns on every pull just to survive? How will we ever last on end game bosses if 20-10 seconds out of ever minute we take such massive damage.

@Herrod - WotLK 10 and 25 man raiding is so unbelievably easy you do not need to build up items like you did in Vanilla and TBC. A few heroic runs and some quest lines and you are completely set for 10 mans.

DPS Should aim for ~2500 ap, 20% crit and 300 hit to give numbers

Tanks should be 20k life, 20k armor, 540 defense and as much dodge as you can get on top of that (as an OT, you won't MT with the sunwell / tier 6 geared tanks until you get some 80 raid drops).

For starting gear, prioritize gear stats and filter them on wowhead, its quite easy to come up with a great list of easy to achieve pre-raid gear.

@ The Anonymous tank guy - Death knight tanking is *not* like any other tank. Our class was designed around smart use of cooldowns, it is a complex class. We were designed around high dodge rating and things like BS, IF and AMS. We were designed to have some form of cooldown up at nearly any time you could expect major damage. They aren't the 'oh shit' buttons that warriors have, or paladins, etc.

Hey Jayde,

I have been reading this blog for a long time. But this morning I am not awake nor smart enough to understand anything. So here is my question.

If we have a ton of expertise doesn't that make us less likely to use rune strike? Or am I reading it incorrectly. My rational for this is probably flawed but I was just wondering.

Welp im dumb and found the real answer. Ignore stupid post above lol.

Grats on your job at Blizzard. I am guessing that you might be needing to give up your publicly known toons and this blog. If that is the case, I want you to know that your data will be missed, but that I will sleep better knowing you are more deeply connected to the design process.

Your comments during beta and since have been spot-on and I couldn't agree more with your analysis of DK balance. This is a great class and you probably deserve a good bit of the credit. Thanks for your hard work.

Tell us how you are doing! Have you started your new job yet? Do you have leeway to say what kind of position that you got at Blizzard?

you probably found this already :P
its kind of a "calculate my ideal rotation" thingy :P

more about it here:
http://elitistjerks.com/f72/t33152-vontres_deathgraf_dk_theorycraft_tool_beta/

anyways, i threw in some data using your armory and current spec, i dont know whether or not it has any bugs using your spec :P but it does show some interesting data
ill have to use it some more with my own dk to really get the most out of the tool.

other than that, happy new year :)
hope you make some posts soon

"So is this blog dead now?"

Wish it would have died before his DK feedback. Such an op class.
