Just a few ganking clips:

Though they were at or near full health, and within 1 level of me (above or below), I feel pretty overpowered against just about any opponent I run into with my current spec. I'm simply unkillable 1vs1 so far. I think only a very well-played frost mage would give me a tough fight at this point, or another DK with a similar spec.

Nice as usual Jayde. I am worried about future Unholy nerfs myself. :/

What mods are you using?

awesome upload any pvp you fraps plox!

Jeremyz0r said...

Were you using your AMZ or MoB spec? It's hard to keep of your most up-to-date PVP spec.

Do you use Death Strike? I'd figure you'd Glyph it. (Over the Blood Strike of course)

Some people have a habbit of jumping around to much.. do you have a kiting syndrome? Especially against that warrior, it was like "Come on! Intercept me!".

You can check my spec by clicking on my armory link on the right. :)

I just added it.

And your mods?

Jeremyz0r said...

Ah, but you posted a new Spec, however, your old spec is present. I wasn't sure if it was out-dated. ^.^

Bartender 4, Xperl unit frames, Quartz, RuneHero, and litetip. :)

Without Unholy Aura, I find myself using Unholy Presence.

What about a 1v1 against a non-bad Ret Pally? Aren't they the DK counter?

Jayde said...

I haven't met one that could beat me yet, and that includes them feeling the need to blow both bubble and LoH.

On a side note , what do the present people think about DK abilities that have their damage increased by the number of diseases on the target would work similar to Mutillate and poisons - they wouldn't care how many diseases there are but would do directly extra damage , f.e. +10% on Blood strikne ? (this is just a long guess of numbers).

I don't have the time to play the game , unfortuenetly , so I'd like to hear opinions of you , the luckier bunch :)

Are you beating them (Ret Pallys) solely on the strength of Bone Shield and Icebound Fort? I see no AMZ in the build linked in the WSG scoreboard post to further soak their burst.

Reason I press is that I've gone through scenarios in my head, and I concluded that we must have a hard time with any class that can remove Diseases (Paladins & Shamans), or any class that can keep us snared and maintain high magical DPS. Obviously Mage comes to mind, but what about Locks? We have no healing debuff and no personal dispel of any kind. I don't see us 100-0'ing a Lock if Strangulate isn't up. Maybe Undead can do it...

As for Pallys and Shamans, we can soak/outheal a Shaman's output if they're not spending GCD's on Disease removal, but I have to imagine Pallys being a bitch to handle. They can remove our damage-boosting debuffs, we can't remove theirs, meaning their burst is ultimately higher. I'm sure I don't have to really expound on the aspects of the Paladin class, but it's just that every time I think it through in my head, I just don't see a good Paladin not having a hard counter to everything a DK can do.

Care to expand on the dynamic a bit?

I think you might have lost perspective a bit. Just to give you an idea of how poorly geared that paladin you ganked was, I have the same HP as that paladin, but I'm still wearing full non-stamina enchanted season 2, at level 71.

If you fought one of the season 4 epic paladins that exist EU side (the competant ones like Mobywann from Outland) you'd find them a lot harder to handle. That ret pally couldn't even keep track of you.

Fight a competant one with a Gladiator title and come back to us :p I guarentee it won't be head held high.

Jayde said...

And you realize that I'm using zero resilience, right? :P

Anonymous said...

You're talking about the difference between 0 resilience and maybe 150-200 resilience even for someone now decked in full season 4, but you're also fighting people who are decked in Wrath greens and blues. Which means they probably weren't good enough to get the epics in the first place :)

It stands to reason that given replacements for current gear is hard to come by anyway (only at 76-78 can you even start to consider actively replacing gear and even then not PvP gear unless it's blacksmithing stuff) that the people you are facing in PvP aren't necessarily the cream of the crop, so making a comment like "I don't think anyone but a very good frost mage can kill me" is a bit silly when all you're showing people is absolutely terrible Ret paladins who bubble heal and don't even finish healing :p

I'm not disputing it might be true. It might just be that, but as a career Ret paladin and a new (frost) DK, I have my doubts about the undefeatability of Unholy and if I were you I'd hold back on making comments liable to invoke fury on the trillions of nubulons wanting DKs nerfed already. People have a tendancy to find and link stuff like this and raise hell on forums. Whether you like the forums or not, it still makes the environment less pleasant for the rest of us because they don't particularly care if it's true or not.

I've been reading your blog for a long time and it's been very insightful. Just a friendly word of caution, that's all :)

Hi, kind of off topic but I couldn't find satisfactory answers anywhere and you seem to be the best person to ask.

1. Is Rune Strike activated off of your parry/dodge, the enemies' parry/dodge, or both? The tooltip is pretty ambiguous.

2. Do you use Rune Strike whenever it is up, or do you just dump it into deathcoil? Rune Strike seems to do more damage for a lower RP cost, but then again it's not instant and not ranged...

Thanks.

Jayde what made you switch from your frost spec to unholy? Is frost obsolete...? Is there a frost using spec that is similar in build and stats as your current build in blood and unholy?

Mani said...

Frost mages and hunters could dominate a DK in 1v1 if played right. A hunter could kite you very well if he knows what he is doing. All other classes get pwn'd by DKs (at least that's my observation so far).

Mani said...

Forgot to add, the class that gets dominated the most by a DK is rogue, there's just no way for a rogue to kill a DK (even with loldismantle). My warlock toon approves of this :D

Karjub said...

@ the Anon poster 4 posts above me: It was trivial to get PvP epics and you can crack 400 resilience in S2.

A player would have to be in half PvE gear/ half blue PvP gear to end up with 150-200 resilience.

Looks a bit better imho, with refreshing and flashing bars... you can see it on my blog :)

I know tanking isn't generally your thing, but what do you think about this as an unholy tank build?

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=jbEMocZ0xZcgGI00oxcqMfou

I am not entirely sure on the amount of magic damage present in raids and dungeons, so I wasn't sure on AMZ and such. I suppose worst case an unholy DPS could always bring it.

Major - Rune Tap / Icebound Fort / Bone Sheidl
Minor - Horn of Winter / Pestilence / ?

Hey, I've been working on a build that deals with the surviablity of unholy and the burst of frost.

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=jZGgxz0xdMGoZ0gGh0rkLxao0o

- Since I've made this build I've been using duel wielding to max out Killing Machine but I haven't tested a build with a 2-hander. I didn't take Annihilation because I don't use a 2-hand and Obliterate doesn't do much damage.

-I like the ability to control my pet because to the Gnaw stun and timeing huge burst during that time. Also with bone shield my surviabilty is increase a lot more then if I had Unbreakable Armor in frost.

- Since I only have a level 67 death knight atm I was wondering if you could test this out at level 80 and see if it works.

I'm at work so I only had a bit of time to type this out so there is probably a lot of grammtical mistakes and didn't really go in the depth. Let me know if you need me to explain a little more or make a video of how this work sorta.

I guess I'm a little late to comment; however, I'm wondering what glyphs you're finding useful in pvp, Jayde?

I'm finding Blood to be a lot of fun in both PvE and PvP. Here's a little video I put together of some BGs and some random ganking.

Very constructive. GTFO.

Currently my DK has only been able to PvP with other DK's...I'm waiting on getting my pally to 80 to really take off with my DK. With that said I think the best counter-class to a DK is ANY tank specced class. My Tankadin seems to mop the floor with DK's. I'm assuming this is because of high damage mitigation, and the fact that DK's need to be next to me to hurt me, and if they are next to me I hurt them as well.....but they don't have any real heals....I did have it out w/ a blood specced death knight for almost 2 minutes before I popped avenging wrath and killed him.
